Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher was scathing of Alexis Mac Allister's antics during the clash with Aston Villa


Jamie Carragher has lambasted Alexis Mac Allister as the Liverpool midfielder was labelled as "embarrassing". The former Reds defender was critical of the Argentinian after an incident with Ezri Konsa shortly before Aston Villa's third goal.
Mac Allister was left down in a heap after an off-the-ball altercation with the England defender. The 27-year-old appeared to move his hand toward the centre-back. Konsa responded and grabbed him by the shirt, lifting it towards his face before the Liverpool man went to ground.


The incident was checked and cleared with the Villa defender avoiding any action from referee Chris Kavanagh. There was a stoppage while Mac Allister remained grounded with head coach Arne Slot appearing to gesture towards the area in question, telling the Liverpool midfielder to get back to his feet.
After watching the replay back, Carragher said: "Oh. Honest to God.
"Honest to God. He goes down every game Mac Allister with something round his ankle normally not like that.


It's embarrassing. Just get up. Honestly. It would be embarrassing if they sent Konsa off for that.
Mac Allister must know: we all look at the replays. We can all see what Konsa has done. He knows he can't get away with it."
From the resulting corner, Liverpool fell two goals behind after the initial shot from outside the box was saved by Giorgi Mamardashvili. The Georgian goalkeeper saved again on the rebound but Watkins was on hand to bundle the ball home.  
After watching the replay back, Carragher said: "Oh. Honest to God.

It's embarrassing. Just get up. Honestly. It would be embarrassing if they sent Konsa off for that.
