 JURGEN KLOPP'S LIFE AFTER QUITTING UK, LIVERPOOL RETURN AND NEW ROLE STARTING THIS SUMMER

Legendary Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been enjoying his break from football management after leaving Anfield

It has been just over two years since Jurgen Klopp stepped down as Liverpool manager. The iconic German coach has been experiencing life away from the dugout after deciding to end his eight-and-a-half-year reign at Anfield.

The Premier League and Champions League-winning boss explained that he intended to have a break from management when he waved goodbye in 2024. In January 2025, he began working as Red Bull's head of global football, overseeing their network of clubs.
It was announced later that year that the 58-year-old would also be taking up a role with the German Football League (DFL) as part of an expert group aimed at improving the game, alongside his work with Red Bull. However, Klopp's decision to step down from Liverpool has also allowed him to spend more time away from the sport.
The Reds legend has spoken about his new family dynamic after previously dedicating himself to football as a player and manager.

Life after quitting UK

Klopp and his wife, Ulla, spent part of their time building a dream home in Mallorca after buying a £3.4million villa in 2022. The couple were reported to be completely rebuilding the 5,000sqm property and were also said to be having a home built in the German city of Wiesbaden, which would allow them to be close to their family.

The pair both have children from previous relationships and have become grandparents. On the experience of becoming a grandfather, Klopp said: "It's just beautiful. The most beautiful thing I have experienced in the last 30 years. To welcome such a little wonderful human being."

He remains committed to his work at Red Bull and also relishes the healthier work-life balance in his current role. "We go on holiday when we want and not when we are allowed to," he told
You can organise everything like that and we have Mario Gomez, he will take over. He can go on holiday, I can go on holiday, one of us is here and is doing the job, informs the other one. The world will not change overnight just because we are a week somewhere and that's how it should be and it never was and now it is like that."

Liverpool return

Klopp returned to the Liverpool dugout as Kenny Dalglish's assistant for the annual legends match at Anfield in March. The Reds faced Borussia Dortmund, another of the manager's former clubs. The game saw Liverpool take a 2-0 lead through Thiago and Jay Spearing, before Mohamed Zidan and Jan Koller levelled.

"I enjoyed every second," Klopp said after the match. "My role was definitely not to have a lot of words. I was here for the Foundation and to be part of a really special experience.

For me, a very special experience after a while – being around, being that close, seeing all the Liverpool lads and then seeing the Dortmund lads as well because that was like 80 per cent of my players. And you don't meet very often and have them all together in one room. It's really cool.

New role

While Klopp already has two jobs, the 58-year-old has confirmed he will be starting a new role as a pundit this summer. He will be covering the World Cup for Magenta TV but teased a return to management in a social media post announcing his new job.

Many of you have always known better. But I truly couldn't envision it for myself," Klopp said in a voiceover. "Going back to the sideline? I don't miss anything. This is what I always thought. But now it is tingling again.

"Grass underneath my feet. The heated atmosphere in the stadium. And I want to be really close again." He clarified: "Oh? No, not as a manager. I am becoming a pundit for Magenta TV at the FIFA World Cup 2026."
