Liverpool are hosting Brentford in the Premier League this weekend in the final fixture of the 2025/26 season

Liverpool have all but secured their place in next season's Champions League, yet supporters will demand a convincing victory to cement their European football. The Reds currently sit fifth in the Premier League table but could still drop into the Europa League spots.

This would only happen if the Reds lost and Bournemouth overturned a goal difference deficit against Nottingham Forest - with Liverpool presently holding a six-goal advantage. Arne Slot's side welcome Brentford to Anfield on Sunday afternoon, with the manager declining to reveal whether Mohamed Salah will feature in his starting line-up.


The 33-year-old has been outspoken ahead of his Anfield farewell, prompting some calls for him to be left out. The Liverpool icon has clashed with Slot on several occasions this season, yet the Dutch head coach is determined not to let this influence his team selection on Sunday
Slot said: "I don't think it is that important what I feel about it. What is important is that we qualify for the Champions League on Sunday and I prepare Mo and the whole team in the best possible way for the game. I was very disappointed after our loss against Villa because a win would have given us qualification for the Champions League which we didn't get.



"Now there's one game to go which is a vital one for us as a club. We both want what's best for the club, we both want the club to be successful and that's the main aim."

Contract prepared for £103m target


RB Leipzig are set to hand Liverpool target Yan Diomande a fresh contract in a bid to fend off interest in the winger. The 19-year-old came to the Reds' attention after making the switch to Germany last summer in a deal valued at approximately £17million.
Sky Germany reports that Leipzig are responding to Premier League interest by drawing up a lucrative new deal for Diomande. The teenager is already contracted until 2030, but the Bundesliga outfit are determined to safeguard one of their prized assets.
Reports suggest no club has matched Leipzig's asking price for the winger, which stands at around £103m (€120m). The 19-year-old's own comments dealt a further blow to Liverpool's hopes, as he appears content to remain in Germany.
