Mohamed Salah finds himself at the heart of fresh controversy as Liverpool gear up to conclude their campaign against Brentford. The Reds are still smarting from a second defeat in three Premier League matches and have endured nearly a month without tasting victory.


Arne Slot's second season at Anfield has fallen well short of the standards set by his title-winning first campaign. Great things were anticipated following an outlay exceeding £400million last summer, only for the side to disappoint.

Having previously claimed he'd been "thrown under the bus" by Slot back in December, Salah has aimed another barb. The Egyptian was introduced from the subs' bench for the final 15 minutes or so as Liverpool succumbed to a 4-2 defeat away at Aston Villa on Friday.



Yet it was Salah's social media reaction following the match that's attracted criticism. He began by describing the latest setback as "very painful" before lauding Jurgen Klopp's "heavy metal" football in what seemed to be a swipe at the current style witnessed under Slot.


"I want to see Liverpool go back to being the heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear and back to being a team that wins trophies," he continued. "That is the football I know how to play and that is the identity that needs to be recovered and kept for good. It cannot be negotiable and everyone that joins this club should adapt to it."
